Coles County Emergency Management Agency

Welcome to the homepage of the Coles County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).  We are pleased to provide this information to assist with informing and educating the public on emergency planning and disaster recovery.

Coles County EMA was originally created as the Coles County Civil Defense. The primary agency functions were related to enemy attack. In 1956, the Illinois Civil Defense Act was amended to include defense against both hostile enemy action and man-made disasters. The agency later became the Coles County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA).  The name of the department was changed to Coles County Emergency Management (EMA) in July, 2005 to more accurately reflect the mission and responsibilities of the agency

The Coles County Sheriff’s Department monitors this number when no one is present in the office or the EOC

The Administration Office for the Coles County Emergency Management Agency is generally open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., other times by appointment   The EMA Coordinator is apart-time position in Coles County.
